DPF Cleaning

DPF’s Dirty?
Let A-Z Emissions keep your filters clean so they can do their job properly and keep you compliant with state air quality mandates.  Call 1-800-853-8330 or email info@a-zemissions.com to set up an appointment time.

Why is it needed?
Regular scheduled maintenance is required to keep your DPF system in proper working order.  Over time all DPF’s accumulate non-combustible ash, mainly from additives in lube oil burnt by the engine, and periodically require removal of this ash to avoid clogging or damage to the filter.

When should it be done?
The interval for cleaning varies according to each manufacturer’s specification, the engine condition, duty cycle and the type of lube oil used in the engine.  Typically the service interval should be annually or not to exceed 1000 hours of engine operation, and in some cases the required cleaning interval may be significantly shorter (or longer in the case of Cleaire’s Longmile) please refer to your owner’s manual for specifics regarding your filter(s).

How is it done?
Most filter servicing requires baking and de-ashing (aka “pulse cleaning”) of the filter element, and A-Z Emissions Solutions price includes both services, but does not include any required gasket kits, or resets. Our service includes weight of the filter before and after servicing, as well as an after cleaning flow measurement. Certain systems require various resets for lights, and hour counters, these services are included in the “inspect, clean and reinstall” service price, but may require an additional service call on an after-cleaning system reinstalled by a customer.

Other Considerations
All DPF parts should be inspected at the time of filter servicing, and broken parts are not covered under manufacturers’ warranty.
Shipping filters with UPS or common carrier often causes damage, and specialized packing materials are strongly recommended. Shipped filters will only be accepted after visual inspection for shipping damage. It is preferable to have A-Z Emissions pick-up filters, or deliver them yourself, as damage repair or filter replacement is time consuming and very expensive.
Filters that have gone over the required service interval may need to be baked and de-ashed a second time, at additional cost.  A-Z Emissions will communicate these issues to each customer and work to get the filter as close to original factory specs as possible.
