Emissions Compliance:
On December 12, 2008, the California Air Resources Board, (CARB) approved
a new regulation to significantly reduce particulate matter (pm) and oxides
of nitrogen (NOx) emissions from existing on-road diesel vehicles operating
in California. The regulation requires affected trucks and buses to meet
performance requirements by 2011 and 2023.
By January 2023, all vehicles must have a 2010 model year engine or equivalent.
Opacity Smoke Testing
California State Law requires that you smoke test your fleet once a year
and maintain your records for 2 years. The state requires annual opacity
smoke testing on diesel vehicles with GVW of 6000 or greater. Vehicle
smoke emissions must be below 40% opacity for 1991 and newer, 55% for engines
1990 and older. Any vehicle engine less than 4 years old does not need testing.
The testing requirements apply to all heavy-duty vehicles traveling IN California.
Vehicles can be stopped for inspection at border crossings, CHP weigh station,
fleet facilities and roadside locations.

Cleaire – Cleaire Advanced Emissions Controls was founded to
develop industry leading diesel exhaust clean up systems. The Cleaire Horizon product
is recommended for school buses. Horizon is an actively regenerated
particulate filter that uses an integrated electric heater to periodically “cook-out” captured
diesel particulate, much like a self cleaning oven. The active regeneration
technology eliminates any concerns of low exhaust temperature and/or variable
duty cycles such as regular route and driver changes.
HUSS – The HUSS LLC MK system is a very robust design incorporating
premium materials. The durable HUSS systems are designed for heavy
duty on-road and off-road applications. Main applications are: Transit and
school buses, refuse trucks, construction and mining equipment, industrial

Donaldson - Donaldson creates a broad spectrum of filtration products

SEF Muffler System is a new semi-active DPF system that is effective

Econix - The Econix DPF-A is an active DPF that
uses an advanced metal fiber filter to trap diesel particulate matter (PM)
contained in diesel engine exhaust gas. The DPF-A provides
sustainable emission reduction without the use of a catalyst and with minimal
regeneration down time. (Less than 10 minutes) Independent of vehicle/equipment
duty cycles, the Econix DPF-A’s robust design does not require minimum
emission reductions or operation.

and Utility markets. . ESW’s ThermaCat filter system
is a combined technology comprised of a regeneration component by means of

duty cycles, where low exhaust gas temperatures are predominant and traditional
passive DPF system would not be suitable.
